Beginning in April 2011, SimStore will have over 1,000 scenarios
available on an exclusive basis to sample and purchase online from
SimStore at www.simstore.com
NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Through their joint venture, SimVentures, HealthStream, Inc. (NASDAQ:
HSTM), a leading provider of learning and research solutions for the
healthcare industry, and Laerdal Medical ("Laerdal"), a global leader in
the provision of educational solutions for healthcare providers and
educators, today announced that they are collaborating with leading
medical simulation centers and key opinion leaders to provide a wide
variety of simulation content. Each of these leading developers have
been given access to SimDeveloper™, a newly launched software
developer's toolkit, to prepare and upload simulation scenarios that
will be available through SimStore™, a newly launched application.
SimDeveloper and SimStore are both components of SimCenter™, our
simulation management platform for healthcare training offered though
the Internet via software-as-a-service (SaaS).
With scenarios and other content already created by leading educators
from around the world, SimStore will serve as a hub of quality
educational content for multiple healthcare disciplines. SimStore will
offer for purchase over 1,000 scenarios—with thousands more to
follow—from some of the world's leading healthcare organizations and
associations that together form a leading developer network. The initial
network of developers, which will expand over time, includes
organizations and centers such as the National League for Nursing,
American Academy of Pediatrics, Belmont University and Health Care
Simulation South Carolina (USA); Oxford Brookes University and SAFER
Simulation Center (Europe); and Edith Cowan University (Australia); and
many more.
"SimStore offers a range of outstanding simulation scenarios that I can
readily select at the click of a button. This enables me to spend more
time on what is most important: teaching through the simulation rather
than preparing for it. I can utilize scenarios created by industry
leaders in simulation training rather than spending time creating my own
scenarios. I believe SimCenter is a groundbreaking solution that will
revolutionize the way simulation is performed in healthcare training,"
said Beth Hallmark, Ph.D. RN, director of simulation, Belmont University.
Simulation scenarios from the network of developers will be offered in
annual and multi-year license agreements and will be exclusive to
SimStore. Since most simulation centers are anticipated to require a
series of scenarios, content bundle pricing will also be offered.
"Sufficient scenario content—both in quality and quantity —that meets
both curricula requirements and other professional training needs has
long been overdue," said Robert A. Frist, Jr., president and chief
executive officer, HealthStream. "Laerdal and HealthStream are excited
to launch the first global marketplace to connect a growing list of
organizations worldwide that use Laerdal's advanced patient simulators
to quality, best-in-class simulation content through SimStore. Moreover,
the software developer's toolkit, SimDeveloper, enables an expanding
community of developers to ensure a continuous supply of simulation
content, creating a dynamic marketplace."
